On site training and consultation for agencies
The Minuchin Center for the Family offers training and consultation in the application of Structural Family Therapy principles and interventions at mental health settings, substance abuse programs, hospitals, child welfare agencies, and public schools. Training ranges from one day workshops to long term programs. Consultation includes the development and implementation of family centered procedures and protocols in the work with children and families.
Training and consultation programs are tailored to the specific needs of practitioners and agencies. Outcome criteria focus on the practitioners’ mastery of the principles of working systemically, and their ability to translate theoretical concepts into clinical interventions with families.

1. Structural Family Therapy Model For Prevention Programs
In partnership with Brooklyn Community Services (www.weareabcs.or) we are developing an evidence-based model to work with families referred by protective agencies due to concerns with the safety of their children. Formative evaluation research is being provided by the McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research (www.mcsilver.nyu.edu)
2. Challenging Certainty: An Archive by Salvador Minuchin, M.D.
Culling from Dr Minuchin’s and the Minuchin Center for the Family’s extensive storehouse of taped clinical sessions and consultations, these teaching tapes will offer clinicians, academic instructors and agencies who serve low income populations, an SFT-informed, cross-indexed learning source. Grounded by the practical and conceptual application of SFT, the instructional tapes will be organized by presenting issues, technique and context.
